If you aren’t already, you should be monetizing your efforts on Instagram to earn that well-deserved extra money you can use on things like touring, new gear or whatever else your musical heart desires. 

Influencer Marketing
As an artist with a distinct style, you are in a great position for sponsored posts or collaboration opportunities. Consider reaching out to brands who have a similar vibe or mission as you do, and spark up a conversation about how you can mutually benefit one another. This can range from either promoting their product in a post, reviewing said product or even doing a full sponsored post for them.

Alternatively, you can do a version of this with other musicians in your community. From promoting each others merch to hyping up their upcoming show, this industry thrives of collaboration! And Instagram is no stranger to nurturing that community.

Affiliate Marketing
Another great way to earn some extra money is to sign up for affiliate programs related to your niche. With these, you can share unique affiliate links in your Instagram posts or stories. When your followers make a purchase through your link, you earn a commission.

For example, brands like StubHub, Vivid Seats and Ticketmaster all have pretty good affiliate programs. So whether your fans are buying tickets to your shows or other artists’, as long as they use your code, you get a cut. Doesn’t get much easier than that.

If you’re a musician on TikTok, you may have encountered the dreaded block once in a while. This can happen for a ton of reasons, some of which include copyright issues or a violation of one of TikTok’s community guidelines. Regardless of how it happened, your video is not always gone forever. In this post, we’ll show you exactly what to do if this happens to you and how to prevent it from happening again in the future. Here’s what we know…

Whether a single video gets blocked or your whole page, there are a couple reasons why TikTok would do this. By not following their Community Guidelines, you risk being blocked. This can range from promoting illegal activities in a music video clip of yours, nudity, violence, and a whole list of others which you can check out right here.

One of the most common reasons many of our clients see their videos blocked is from using more than 60 seconds for their video. We also see people confused about whether or not they should be using a business account or a creator account. One reason being that if you use a creator account, you can use the library of sounds on TikTok, but if you’re a business account, you can’t. Little things like this are important things to note to ensure you don’t see any issues down the line.

If you’ve gone through all the guidelines and believe your video has been mistakenly blocked, you can actually appeal the decision with TikTok.

To do this, go to the TikTok app’s Privacy and Settings section, then select Report a Problem. Explain the situation, provide relevant details and request a review of the video block. TikTok’s support team will assess your appeal and respond accordingly.

If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, you can reach out to TikTok’s support team directly. All you have to do is visit TikTok’s Help Center on their website and navigate to the appropriate support section. Look for contact options such as email, chat, or an online form to submit your query or complaint.

Creating a Thread

Once posted, people can engage with your new content with likes and replies. Then, you can jump into the replies to start reacting to the commentary from others, and so on so forth.

Explore
In your Feed, you’ll see content from your current connections as well as recommendations from other creators. If you want to look around and find something new, you can discover new accounts through the Search bar or through suggested follows, too.

As musicians and artists, we all want the maximum exposure for our work, and we know social media is the absolute number one way of getting our content in front of fans.

Unfortunately, us musicians are also on a budget and need to be very shrewd about how we manage our finances. Luckily however, most social media strategies are free to use.

The following music social media campaign tips will help you to grow your online presence. 

1. Invite ‘likers’ of your Facebook posts to like your artist page
This valuable Facebook function enables you to not only grow your followers, but also make sure that the people that you do invite have already shown an interest in you; meaning it is much less of a ‘cold-calling’ approach.

Acting as your artist page, simply go to a previous (well-performing) post, click on the ‘likes’ and you will be shown a list of all those who people who interacted with the post. If some on the list do not already like your page you can then simply click on ‘invite’. If you weren’t aware of this function before, it might be worth spending a bit of time going through all your old posts.

2. Don’t waste valuable space on your social media profiles 
This applies to all the artist pages you have – and for even better exposure, why not your personal ones? We’re talking about header images. This is one of the first things people see when they discover your profile, so make it count. Not only should it look nice, but this is free advertising space!

If you have a tour coming up you should have a well-designed header image with your dates on, or if you have a new release; you should be pushing it here. 

3. Make use of your pinned posts
This tip is in keeping with the above, and it is amazing how few people actually pin a baller post to their page. If you’re anything like most people on social media, then you probably post a lot of stuff; some good, some bad, some that has high engagement, some that has none. That is only natural.

4. Write blog posts
It doesn’t have to be long; it could be just a collection of photos and a bit of text documenting your time in the studio, or about the gig you played last night. Not only does it look good on your profiles but it gives you more opportunities to extend your network and reach by including others in your articles.

Contrary to popular belief, that blue check mark is not meant to show someones importance, status, or authority. All it represents is that Instagram has taken the time to confirm the account belongs to whoever it says does. One thing to note is that you can’t change the username on your account, and verification cannot be transferred to a different account once verified.

How to request a verified badge:
Make sure you’re logged in to the account you’re requesting a verified badge for.
Tap the profile icon or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
Tap more options in the top right, then tap Settings.
Tap Account, then tap Request Verification.
Enter your full name and provide the required form of identification (example: government-issued photo ID or official business documents).
Follow the on-screen instructions, and you’re good to go!

What requirements do you need to meet to get approved?
In addition to following Instagram’s Terms of Use and Community Guidelines, your account also needs to be:

Authentic: Represent a real person, registered business or entity.
Unique: Represent the unique presence of the person or business. (Only one account per person or business may be verified.)
Complete: Your account must be public and have a bio, profile photo and be active when you apply.
Notable: Your account must represent a well-known, highly searched for person, brand or entity. Instagram reviews accounts that are featured in multiple news sources, and they don’t consider paid or sponsored media content as sources for review.
